Privacy Policy
Ce document est disponible en anglais, en chinois simplifié et en chinois traditionnel. La version anglaise est affichée ci-dessous et c’est elle qui fait foi.
This policy explains what information Real time translator (the browser extension and this website, “we”) collects, how we use it and who we share it with. The service is operated by Real time translator (ABN 42 790 625 435), a business registered in Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. On-device translation doesn’t go through us
The Free plan and the “prefer on-device translation” option use the translation feature built into your browser. Page content is processed on your computer and is not sent to us or anyone else. On-device text recognition (OCR) also runs on your computer.
2. What is sent when you use cloud features
When you use subtitles, speech, images, documents or cloud web page translation, the extension sends what is needed for that translation to our server, which passes it to the providers listed below: the text to translate, captured images or video frames, the live audio stream, and settings such as the target language. We don’t store this content. Our server records only usage for each request (such as characters, seconds or number of images) and its cost, to calculate your quota. Each provider processes and retains data under its own terms.
3. Account and payment information
- Email address: used for sign-in codes, identifying your account and essential service messages.
- Sign-in sessions: we store only a hash of each session token. You can sign out of all devices on your account page.
- Subscriptions and transactions: provided by Paddle (subscription ID, status, billing period, amounts and taxes). Card and other payment details are handled by Paddle; we never see or store them.
- Abuse prevention: when a trial is granted we keep one-way hashes of the email address and network address to stop repeat trials.
4. Who receives data, and where
This table is generated from the services currently in use. Some providers are outside Australia; by using the related feature you agree to that content being processed in those regions.
| Provider | Purpose | Processing region |
|---|---|---|
| DeepSeek (Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence) | Translating text from web pages, subtitles, bullet comments and speech transcripts | Mainland China |
| DeepSeek (Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence) | Recognizing and translating text in images, video frames and scanned PDFs | Mainland China |
| Soniox | Live speech transcription and translation (audio stream) | United States |
| Paddle (Merchant of Record) | Payments, taxes, invoices and subscription management | United Kingdom, United States and other countries |
| Cloudflare | Website and API hosting, database and network security | Global edge network |
| Resend | Sending sign-in code emails | United States |
5. Retention and deletion
We keep account information until you delete your account. Usage and transaction records are kept as required for tax and accounting. You can delete your account on the account page (cancel any active subscription first). When you do, your email address is deleted; we keep only the hashes needed to prevent repeat trials.
6. Your rights and contacting us
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by emailing realtimetranslator.support@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). If privacy laws where you live (for example the EU or UK GDPR) give you further rights, contact us and we will help you exercise them.
7. Extension permissions
The extension needs to read and change the pages you open so it can place translations where the original text was, and to capture tab audio for speech translation. It only processes the current page when you turn on the related feature, and it does not collect your browsing history.
